Engines and Performance

A 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder will come standard on the 2022 Tucson, teamed with an eight-speed automatic and your choice of front or all-wheel drive. A turbocharged 1.6-liter four will power the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, delivering a combined 227-hp in the hybrid and 261-hp in the plug-in version. All-wheel drive is standard with the electric powertrains, and both come with a six-speed automatic transmission. In the non-hybrid powertrain, the Tucson provides more than enough acceleration for safe passing on highways around North Tonawanda, NY. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models will be even faster.

Interior

The new Hyundai Tucson presents a simple, modern dashboard with a digital gauge display, a push-button shifter, and a touch-sensitive control panel for climate control and infotainment. The 2022 Tucson's rear seat space and cargo area are both larger than the previous model, offering more passenger comfort and practicality.

A standard 8.8-inch touchscreen is built into the dashboard with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, and a larger 10.3-inch screen with navigation is optional. Other tech offerings include Hyundai's digital key smartphone app, which provides lock and unlock capability.

Range and Battery Life

The plug-in hybrid version of the 2022 Tucson has a 13.8-kWh battery pack with a limited range of up to 32 miles of electric-only driving. A 7.2-kW on-board charger allows the battery to be fully recharged in about two hours when it's plugged into a level 2 charging station.

Safety and Driver-Assistance

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson offers a comforting array of driver-assistance features, many of which will be standard. Key safety features include standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and available adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

In the compact SUV market, only Hyundai's corporate cousin Kia offers as much warranty coverage as the new 2022 Tucson. Hyundai even has an advantage over Kia models because of its remarkable, complimentary scheduled maintenance program. The Tucson's limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles, and the powertrain warranty is good for an amazing 10 years or 100,000 miles. Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles, the kind of extended no-charge maintenance that's almost unheard-of in the U.S. automotive industry.
